Yesterday I finally got to witness someone ELSE having 'one of those days'.
Hubby and I went out to eat last night and yeah, our waiter was having a rough day of it. He was polite, charming and everything a waiter SHOULD be, just nothing went right for him.
We ordered Cokes and a cider margarita - and he informed us that their coke syrup was out. We substituted the coke for sprite and he went off to put in our drink orders, only to have to come back and inform us that they just ran out of the margarita mix. We declined any other margaritas and ordered our appetizers (which they thankfully had - the last time we ate there they were out of their firecracker chicken wraps).
We placed our salad orders (caesar and garden with italian dressing) and our steak orders (I wanted mine rare and Hubby wanted his medium rare), and he took off again. He came back to say they were out of the 12 oz steaks, but they had the 8 oz left - we said that'd be fine with us. He then brought out our steaks and asked us if we wanted anything else - we said, "Sure, how about our salads?" The look of consternation on his face was priceless. We told him to just box the salads, we'd take them with us to eat the next day.
My steak was perfect and so was Hubby's (we've never had a bad steak there). So we dined and had fun and all that and he asked us if we wanted dessert - and we ordered the brownie sundae. When he brought it out, he told us how the chefs were getting in on the action - they told him they were out of brownies and at that point he was ready to just beat his head against the wall.
All in all, despite the 'outages', it was one of the more memorable dinners Hubby and I have had in recent memory.
We giggled all the way home.
