It's been a busy week and a half over here in NH since we arrived from Europe.
The flight from Copenhagen to Iceland wasn't too bad - Matthias handled himself well up until we began our descent into Keflavik. Then his ears started to hurt him, but he wouldn't take his pacifier or his bottle. Going through customs and all that was a breeze and we pre-boarded the flight to Boston.
The flight to Boston was hell.
Matthias was WAY past his bedtime, and a cranky baby on a flight = sad times. I held him and soothed him and all that and he was JUST about to fall asleep when one of the flight attendants turned on the overhead lights and woke him up. *sigh*
He was cranky off and on the entire flight there, and we had planned it so he'd be getting his bottle when we were landing at Logan. So when we started our descent, he began drinking furiously from his bottle, draining the entire 8 oz. Then we get a message from the captain that we had to pull up again and enter a holding pattern due to heavy traffic at Logan, so we climbed back up - making Matthias's ears hurt again and this time he was too full to drink.
Got through customs at Logan without any real problems, declared what we needed to (had to tell them about the baby's powdered formula we brought with us, since technically it's powdered milk and therefore an agricultural product) and got on the bus up to Dover.
Arrived in Dover to freezing rain. If you've never tried to install a carseat in a Jeep in the freezing rain in the dark, well I don't suggest it.
We got to Mom's house at about 10:30pm, had a drink of soda and got our suitcases into the house and the baby put to bed (he was all but passed out from being overtired by this point) and then we went to bed - we were just too tired to do much of anything else.
We figured we could take our showers in the morning.
Did I mention that the 'freezing rain' became the worst ice storm in NH in the past 75 years?
We lost power during the night so yeah... no showers for us.
It took Public Service of NH until Tuesday to get our power back, but we were ok with the fireplace running and sleeping in front of it with the baby and all - none of us were cold or otherwise in any danger. We went out to eat a few times and ordered delivery a few times, no big deal.
Friday it started snowing and it's snowed pretty much all weekend. We're supposed to get about 10" today (30cm or so) at least. There have been times when you couldn't see out the windows very well due to the amount of snow coming down.
We bought a new digital camera and have started taking more pictures, will be posting some of them soon.
