So, we've been spreading our good news amongst our friends and family here in Denmark. Both Hubby and I are very happy and very excited by our good fortune.
So we finally get a hold of our friend David and tell him.
He asks, "How far along is she?"
Hubby tells him 5.5 weeks.
He says, "Oh, you shouldn't tell anyone before she's 12 weeks, because you know something could happen before then and she loses it."
Way to just be an asshole.

The End of August...
So, August is nearly done and gone. So much has happened this month for Hubby and myself.
We're both really excited by the pregnancy, and everything else that goes along with it - yes, even the queasiness and the tiredness.
Hubby has already said he's looking forward to spoiling me more than he already does, and he plans to make sure that I'm as happy and as comfortable as possible over the next 9 months.
I sure picked a keeper!
Today at school we sat around and listened to the course descriptions for Chemistry B (Organic Chem) and Biology A (Cellular Biology). Those are the two courses I've chosen to take for this semester. I've already spoken with both teachers about the pregnancy, and the fact that at some point I might have to make a mad dash to the bathroom or somesuch.
The chemistry teacher wasn't as thrilled about the pregnancy as the biology teacher (go figure, eh?) but has agreed that I can be present in the lab exercises without having to handle the chemicals, since all the lab exercises will be done in groups.
I also spoke to the biology prof about switching molecular biology for biology C in the spring semester - because honestly I'd rather have my eyes gouged out with a spoon than have to take molecular biology, but it was the only course I hadn't already had for that block in that semester. So Yay - Marietta and I will be in the Danish class for Biology C - and all the books/reading materials are also in English, just the lectures will be in Danish.
Just means that I will be bringing along a tape recorder or somesuch to record the lectures for further listening.
No biggie.
Today's looking up!

The first cravings are here!
Yep, that didn't take long.
Right now I'm wanting salty foods. Hubby has made a run to the store for pretzels and some ginger ale for me. I'm not having the Linda Blair Exorcist projectile vomiting that I had when I was pregnant with Vanessa, but I have had some.
The queasiness pills from the pharmacy really seem to help. I might just buy stock in the company.

How to be mean to your mother...
So I had some pretty important news to share with my Mother today; and I gave her a ring around 7 am New Hampshire time. She's normally up at that hour, so I didn't think I'd be waking her.
Naturally, she had slept in. Figures, eh?
So we did the smalltalk thing for a few moments, making general inquiries about how people are feeling etc, when I told her I did have some news for her.
I told her that I've picked out her birthday present for next year.
So she immediately starts with the, "I don't want you spending any money on me. I don't want you buying me anything. You're not to do it at all!'
So I tried to placate her.
I said, "Well Mom, I promise you, I'm not going to buy you anything. I have an idea for your birthday and I've narrowed it down to one of two possibilities: either you're getting a grandson, or a granddaughter."
I got the official word earlier today; 5 weeks pregnant, due May 6th.
All in all, I'm over the MOON happy!!!

A Baptism!
Today was the baptism of Søren and Inez's little girl, Sarah Mathilde.
There were 2 families having their children baptised today, and the first little girl didn't let out so much as a peep when the water hit her.
Oh, not Sarah - I could see the storm brewing once her godmother laid her down for the priest to sprinkle water on her head. I counted to myself, "Three, Two, One..."
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"
Yep, there she blows!
Oh, she was PISSED.
It was the cutest thing!
The ceremony went well; we sang some psalms in Danish - about birds - and I would have loved to have been able to sing along, but I didn't know the melody, so I was like screw it, I'll just speak the words.
We went out to lunch at a very nice cafe along the canals in downtown Copenhagen, and followed it up with cake and drinks at their apartment.
Poor little Sarah was WAAAAAAAAY overtired by this point, and was a complete lapbaby, but she was still as cute as a button.
"Cunnin'" as Gram Chase might have said.
She's also a complete Daddy's girl.
I can't wait until she's older and continues to wrap Søren around her dainty little finger.

Re: Ring Tone Hell
Today Hubby and I returned to the TDC shop in City2, with the Motorola W375 we had purchased a few days earlier. We took our # when walking into the store, and went over to look at the card next to the display phone, just to make sure we were right.
Yep, there it was: MP3 Ringtone compatible
So, when it came our turn for service, we told the girl working there that we wanted to trade the phone for one that actually DID support MP3 ringtones. She went and got her boss to explain the problem, and her boss said it was fine to exchange the phone out for one that would do what we wanted it to.
So I went over to the wall of phones to see what there was available. That's when Hubby said the magic words, "Get whichever one you like honey."
Woohoo!
I didn't go HOG wild, but I did pick a phone which was considerably more expensive than the other (then again, we got the other phone for the equivalent of 6 cents). I opted for the SonyEricsson Z610i in blue. You can read more about the phone here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pip1&pid=10527&zone=pp
Yes, once again, I've been spoiled.
I did point out to Hubby that I tried for the cheap phone the first time 'round.
(laughs)

Right Thought, Wrong Damn Day...
So Hubby and I had planned our 'date night' - and headed into Copenhagen to go see "The Bourne Ultimatum". We had a grand time on the way there, giggling like we always do; went inside, bought our popcorn, soda and a bag of M&M's and sat down to wait for our turn to go into the theatre.
- The Imperial Theatre in downtown Copenhagen seats like 3000. It's ginormous and it's spoiled me for other theatres, really. Comfy seats that recline, cup holders and enough walking space that if someone needs to get by you, they don't have to walk on top of your feet to get there.
So we're watching the previews on the flatscreen monitor near us, and I hand said tickets over to Hubby to hold on to.
He looks down at them and asks me, "Honey, what's today's date?"
I replied, "the seventeenth?"
He starts to laugh and shows me the date on the tickets: August 18th, 7pm.
You've gotta be SHITTING me.
So, instead of going to the movies tonight, we'll have to go in tomorrow (we had paid for and picked up the tickets on the 14th), and that means we had to cancel our dinner date with our friends Steffen and Marietta that we had planned to have at 6:30pm.
Just wonderful.
On another note - my new cell phone we picked up will be returned to the store on Monday - when I purchased it, I specifically asked about the mp3 ringtones, and was informed that said phone did indeed support that type of ringtone.
We were told today by their main office that that information was incorrect, and the phone did NOT support it.
So, they're going to be exchanging this one for one that DOES do what I want it to do, the first time around.
*grumble grumble*

Ringtone HELL...
It's time for a new cellphone at our house, so Hubby and I drove on down to City2 (the mall) and to the TDC store. (Think like Verizon Wireless, but they do other stuff too).
Hubby told me I could have my pick of any phone in the store, and I opted for a simple Motorola W375. It has a camera, and is able to play mp3 ringtones and other things. It doesn't have all the bells and the whistles on it, just a kazoo or two.
So I got it home, eager to pick out a new ringtone and be one of the 'cool kids' with it.
You'd think I could be so lucky, right?
I opted for U2's "Beautiful Day", and did all the SMS messages to 220592 and all the other requisite BS they asked me to do.
I get an SMS back with my pincode #, and a note saying that the download URL will be sent shortly so I can get the ringtone set up.
That was 2 days ago, and I still haven't seen said URL. Shortly my ass.
So, I figure maybe it's just having issues ordering it from the phone, and I can try to nab a ringtone from TDC's website, where they offer hundreds of ringtones.
So I do all the SMS stuff again, and I get an SMS back with the pincode #, and a note saying the download URL will be sent shortly so I can get the ringtone set up.
Yes, it's feeling like deja-vu at this point, isn't it?
LO AND BEHOLD - the DOWNLOAD URL HAS ARRIVED
I click on it to open it, and get a message: 403 NOT FOUND
Yep - you guessed it - the link didn't work.
So after frustrating the hell out of myself with their customer service, we've been referred to another customer service and all that - which is a complete pain in the ass. If they don't have a fix for me by Monday, Hubby and I will be returning this phone for another one that doesn't have these issues.

Gardening...
Hubby and I are determined to clear out our jungle this summer, and try to get something planned for the next year's planting. It's not that we have a HUGE back terrace, just that we've been so busy with OTHER things we simply haven't had the chance (or time, for that matter) to get the job done.
Hubby took some initiative on his last free weekend before returning to work to start clearing out a corner in an upside down L shape, right down to the bare soil. I picked up where he left off today, and cleared out about 6 square feet of weeds and Lord knows what, and will be raking up more crap tomorrow afternoon.
I spent about an hour or so out there, from 3:30pm until 4:30, but with 95 degrees and full sun, I wasn't going to spend more than an hour out there, even with sunscreen and a hat. It was simply too hot to tolerate. I figure over this next week we'll get everything out that needs to be gone, and put down a liner to stop it from coming back, then bury it in either stone or mulch until we decide what we're going to plant and where we want to plant it.
At least my blueberry bush will finally find a good home back there, and Hubby has promised me a second bush, so we're guaranteed to have plenty of berries for goodies.
School won't begin for me until the 26th or so, when we get to choose our classes. Right now, I'm leaning towards Chem B and Biology A, as I feel those two will do the best for me. Not that I haven't had 2 semesters of both before, but since I'm left without an option to skip, I'll just go through 'em again.
At least I'm done with the Math portion. I'd like to keep working my calculus on the side, otherwise I'll lose what I've learned, but we'll see how big of a courseload I'll have to suffer with first.
